Abstract

Context: The study evaluates how far COVID-19 affected healthcare accessibility for indigenous women in Chile compared with other demographic groups.

Methods: Municipal fixed-effects regression models and a Differences-in-Differences strategy were used with CASEN data from 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2020.

Results: Healthcare utilization for indigenous women declined by more than 4.5% during the pandemic, over 3 percentage points larger than the aggregate effect for women.

Conclusions: Policy decisions should integrate intersectional realities. Indigenous women's needs in crisis contexts reveal structural inequalities in healthcare access.
